<dc:title>The Scottish Stepdance Company</dc:title>
<dc:description>"The Scottish Stepdance Company showcases traditional percussive dance from the Highlands, accompanying the intricate rhythms of the steps with tunes old and new. First formed in 1998, the group was revived in 2013 after a break of almost a decade with the new show Galloway to Gaidhealtachd, a sell-out at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Distilling centuries of tradition, they share stories, get your feet tapping, and stir the emotions with a unique blend of music, dance and song.

With this show, they team up with Jed Milroy and Jo Jeffries to explore the links between the Scottish and old-time American traditions. Jed Milroy is a multi-instrumental performer, singer, songwriter and community musician. He has performed in a wide variety of bands including Bluegrass Cèilidh specialists ‘The Homecoming String Band’ and psychedelic rockers ‘The Aliens’. Edinburgh born Jo Jeffries sings and plays fiddle. Her musicality is shaped by her 10 years of experience as a contemporary dancer and choreographer. Jo and Jed play together as a duo and are also members of adventure folk pioneers, the ‘Whisky River Boat Band’.

This collaboration marries Scottish stepdance, American flatfooting and songs and tunes of all kinds. It all unites in a vibrant show encapsulating the cream of several traditions and showcasing these talented musicians and dancers at their best." </dc:description>
