Various sources suggest that the site of Kilmore Church was a place of pagan worship before the Christian era. There is a tradition that St Columba landed on the shore below the churchyard when he visited Skye around 585AD and that he climbed on to a rock to preach to the local people. Nearby on the shore there is a reef known locally as Sgeir Chaluim Cille – St Columba’s Rock. |

Knock Castle, or Castle Camus, originally a MacLeod castle dating from the 14th century, was taken by the MacDonalds in the late 1300’s. There is not a great deal of the castle left, mainly due to an early form of recycling as the stone was used for the building of new houses or farms! |

Pràban na Linne-The Gaelic Whiskies |
In 1976, Sir Iain Noble set up Pràban na Linne Ltd, The Gaelic Whiskies, to provide authentic whisky for the Gaelic speaking islands of Scotland. Our company is one of the few independent businesses in the Scotch Whisky industry, and one of very few with its headquarters in the Hebridean Islands of Scotland. In keeping with tradition, our whiskies are unchilfiltered. This ensures that the whiskies are of unequalled quality and historical authenticity. The Gaelic Whiskies pioneered the re-introduction of unchilfiltered whisky. It is the traditional method, producing the best whisky, and was employed by the Gaels when they first invented Uisge Beatha. As a result, the whiskies retain all the original elements of purity, softness and smoothness. |
