'Marit Fält and Rona Wilkie' in concert
Marit Fält and Rona Wilkie join forces to create an exciting and innovative new duo which explores the traditions of their homes in Scotland and Scandinavia. Rona is an exceptional fiddle player and Gaelic singer from the Highlands, who has a great drive behind her playing, and is also able to slow it down to tease the beauty of slower airs. She is at the forefront of the wave of players embracing the rhythmic capacities of the fiddle through her extensive use of chopping and other accompaniment techniques. Marit is a hugely dynamic and inventive Låtmandola and cittern player from Norway, of Swedish parents. She captures both the elegance and raw beauty of Norwegian and Swedish traditional music whilst bringing a great rhythmic intensity to her approach to Scottish music. Between them they are Danny Kyle Award Winners 2012 and BBC Scotland Young Traditional Musician of the Year 2012 "Their music has everything I find delightful: superb musicality, playful communication, subtlety and elegance whilst being passionate and daring. An extraordinary energy that makes my heart sing!" Karen Tweed www.soundcloud.com/maritandrona and www.facebook.com/maritandronaDate: 28/03/13
