'Aiseag' the Ferry Boat - Mary Ann Kennedy - World Premiere
Over 50 musicians and singers come together to present ‘Aiseag’ a new music piece commissioned from a team led by Scottish musician Mary Ann Kennedy. A lifetime fascination with ferryboats and their role in connecting people and communities has produced a Scottish-Canadian collaboration for Inverness Gaelic choir, the Scottish Festival Orchestra strings, traditional musicians, electronic and real-world sound, celebrating the ferry in the Scottish Highlands and Islands of Scotland and in Gaelic Nova Scotia, Canada. Co-creators are Canadian composer Scott Macmillan, Gaelic poet Aonghas MacNeacail and Lochaber-based Watercolour Music audio designer and producer, Nick Turner. We are delighted to present this World Premier before 'Aiseag' moves on to the London South bank Centre, Inverness, the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow and a BBC 3 radio broadcast on 3 August.
