Scottish Chamber Orchestra
Scotland's leading chamber orchestra sets out of their summer tour of the Highlands. Tonight the 24-strong string section returns to the Skye Festival with a programme including: Bartók - Rumanian Dances Greig - Two Elegaic Melodies, op 34 Britten - Variations on a Theme of Frank Bridge Dvorak - Serenade with Stephanie Gonley Director/Violin Join us as we journey through Europe, taking in the traditional tunes of the Romanian hills, set to music by Bartok, and the stunning Norwegian landscapes depicted in Grieg’s Elegaic Melodies. Czech composer Antonin Dvorak’s sunny Serenade presents one gorgeous tune after another, filler with all the warmth and generosity for which this composer is so treasured. We end our journey with a homecoming to the emotional music of Benjamin Britten. Whether it’s the soaring melodies in these works or the flying bows, energy and commitment of the SCO Strings, there’s something to enjoy here for everyone.Date: 21/07/16
