Cape Breton concert
Cape Breton, and particularly Mabou, is a stronghold of Scottish music traditions. Fiddler and pianist Calum MacKenzie is from a Gaelic-speaking family with South Uist connections - his brother Angus is part of Dàimh. Calum learned his fiddle from and has played alongside many great Cape Breton musicians and we welcome this annual visit from Cape Breton tutors who are over at the 'Ceòlas' Summer School. Born and raised in West Bay Road, Inverness County, Shelly Campbell has been playing traditional Cape Breton music for more than 20 years. Shelly’s playing is powerful, lively and graceful and deeply rooted in the traditions she grew up listening to.Date: 12/07/16
